The Openlab Ecuador Foundation aims to consolidate a community focused on open science through the co-creation of a national open science policy. This initiative will involve collaboration with various actors from the academic-scientific community and public entities, Led by FLACSO Ecuador. The specific timeline for this project involves creating the national open science policy in 2023 and the first half of 2024, with approval expected from the rector of science, technology, and innovation in the second semester of 2024.
A key goal is to empower a community in open science, emphasizing its values and principles. This will be achieved through community revitalization activities, including significant events like OpenCon Latam, scheduled to occur in Ecuador in May 2024. This event aims to engage at least 500 people from Ecuador, fostering a deeper understanding and commitment to open science practices within the region. This initiative is crucial for promoting open science, ensuring broader participation and collaboration in the scientific process.
